Rune and Margaretha Borg welcomed their only child, Borg, into the world on June 6, 1956, in the beautiful city of Stockholm, which is the capital of Sweden.

Before a year had passed, Borg was already competing at the highest level of tennis for his country.In his first Davis Cup singles match, Borg, who was only 15 years old at the time, triumphed over the seasoned player Onny Parun of New Zealand in five sets. Later on in that year, he triumphed over Buster Mottram of the United Kingdom to win the junior singles championship at Wimbledon.
