As the 2024 season draws to a close, the trade and free agency period is officially one week away. At the same time, American Football League clubs are ramping up their attempts to add athletes to their rosters for the next year.

There have been new targets identified for Essendon, while Collingwood has provided clarification on a pair of rumors that have been circulating over their list plans.

There have been rumors that the Bombers have shifted their focus to a couple of new targets, namely the Hawthorn midfielder Finn Maginness and the West Coast free agent Josh Rotham, both of whom have been linked to Essendon on multiple occasions.

Considering that Maginness is under contract with the Hawks for an additional year, it would be necessary to move him to Essendon, which is rumored to be interested in acquiring some outside run, as reported by AFL.com.au.

Essendon is also interested in Rotham, a medium-sized Eagles backman who has not yet decided what his future holds for 2025 and is eligible to move to any club of his choosing as an unrestricted free agent. Rotham is a player that Essendon is willing to consider. The premiership ruckman Soldo joined the Power from Richmond a year ago, but he is eager to find a new home back in Victoria, and St. Kilda has been linked to the player on multiple occasions. In the event that Western Bulldogs utility Caleb Daniel decides to leave the Kennel, North Melbourne has emerged as the favorite to acquire his services.

According to AFL.com.au, Daniel is under contract for the next two seasons, but in light of the fact that he has fallen out of favor with the Dogs this year, he is reportedly considering his retirement options.

In the event that Daniel decides to hunt for a new location to call home, the Kangaroos are reportedly interested in making a move for the versatile premiership star and are in the best position to do so.

Both of the players have been verified to be able to continue playing for Alberton if the appropriate deals do not materialize.
