McRae confirms Collingwood won’t pursue Stringer trade after considering options

Craig McRae, the coach of Collingwood, says that the team will not be moving for Essendon forward Jake Stringer this trade period.

The Magpies were tied to Stringer two weeks ago after it came out that the forward wanted to move to a different team because Essendon wouldn’t offer him a longer deal than the one-year deal they had for the 2025 season.

Cal Twomey of AFL Media also said that McRae was “keen” on bringing Stringer to the AIA Centre. However, the coach himself says that the club has decided not to go that route after looking at all of their choices.

McRae told SEN The Run Home, “I heard the rumor and then looked into it a bit and saw that ‘McRae really wants Jake Stringer.'”

“We looked at it; the idea that Jake Stringer might be able to be gotten crossed our desks.” Take a look at how deep it goes.

“But I’m happy to say that Jake Stringer won’t be going to that football club,”

“Not because of any or many reasons, but it seems a bit far-fetched that I want him.”

“We looked into it, and we took care of everything behind the scenes, like where he fits on our list, the money, the length of the job, and everything else.”

“But no, I’m glad to say he won’t be coming to Collingwood next year.”
