Rafael Benitez has been dismissed by Celta Vigo following an unsatisfactory period of leadership.

The ex-Liverpool, Chelsea, and Newcastle manager assumed control of the La Liga team in June, resuming his managerial duties nearly 18 months after departing from Everton.

Nevertheless, Benitez faced a challenging period after being appointed and was dismissed from his position on Tuesday afternoon, having only won one out of his past five matches. Throughout his tenure at Celta, Benitez achieved victory in nine out of his 33 matches, resulting in the club’s current precarious position just below the relegation zone.

Celta currently occupy the 17th position in the league table with a total of five wins and nine draws out of 28 matches played. They are two points ahead of Cadiz, who are in 18th place and are in the relegation zone. The Sky Blues have opted to make a decision and dismiss Benitez as they head into the final stretch. Celta will play their next match when they journey to Sevilla this weekend in a pivotal contest as they strive to avoid relegation.
