Starting from next season, the Champions League draw will be eliminated and replaced by computer-generated pairings once the new format is implemented.

The conventional draw entails the use of pots and balls branded with the Champions League logo, and has evolved into a significant event on the schedule. Frequently, past champions will participate in facilitating the draw. However, due to a modification in the structure, this process would consume excessive time, prompting the search for alternate methods.

An algorithmic approach is poised to be implemented to determine the matchups for the eight teams. If UEFA had adhered to the previous approach, it would have necessitated the use of 900 distinct balls and consumed approximately three to four hours.

Instead, a novel hybrid draw is anticipated to last approximately 35 minutes, according to Sky Sports. Additionally, it is known that an English IT company has been assigned the responsibility of developing the software that would execute the digital aspect of the draw.
