After their successful tour to the south coast, Manchester United will be brimming with confidence before they kick up their 2024–25 Carabao Cup campaign.

Manchester United won 3-0 at St. Mary’s over the weekend to resume their winning ways after dropping their previous two games.

Alejandro Garnacho scored United’s third goal in the triumph, Matthijs de Ligt scored the team’s first goal with an outstanding performance, and Marcus Rashford returned to the scoresheet.

It can’t be stressed that Erik ten Hag desperately needed this victory—Andre Onana’s penalty save may have been the game-winning moment for United—but it was nonetheless encouraging.

Just three days later, it’s Carabao Cup match day again. Ten Hag will have to make some crucial decisions, and United might decide to play some of its younger players.

The stakes are high for United because they have already defeated Barnsley this season with Travis Binnion’s U21 squad.

Potential Manchester United starting lineups against Barnsley
Speaking on Monday, Ten Hag disclosed that Lisandro Martinez, De Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui—the three United players who were questionable for action on Saturday—are all healthy enough to play against Barnsley.

However, it becomes sense to plan for some rotation in order to keep the players from being overworked. This is our predicted starting lineup for United versus Barnsley, with seven changes.
